I am both a domain investor and a web developer that uses domain names for development and investment purposes. My main business involves taking undeveloped domains and building them into valuable web properties.
Primarily .COM and .ORG domains that are short, generic, brandable, or have traffic. Recently registered "junk" domains do not interest me. Some may call me picky, but in this industry you have to be.
I buy domains of almost any TLD and genre. While my focus is on .COM and .ORG, I am not limited to those. If it is something I can utilize for a potential project, and the price is right, I will buy from almost any niche of domain names.
It depends on the domain name of course. The per-name price can be anywhere from $20 to $50,000, perhaps more if the name is worth it.
No! In fact I strongly recommend you avoid any potential domain buyers that require you to get a paid appraisal before they will purchase from you -- it's almost always a scam. I have no problem determining if a domain is worthwhile for me to purchase. That said, you're welcome to share any "professional" appraisals you may have already or tell me if your domain scores highly at PremiumDomains (a free service), Estibot (a free service), or has been accepted for a listing at GreatDomains.
Yes, I do specifically avoid:
Explicit adult names - Adult names are fine, but I usually avoid names that make me blush. Keep them "PG-13."
Hijacked domain names - If you're looking to flip a stolen domain for a quick profit, you came to the wrong place.
"Current event" domains - Yes, I am interested in names of new technologies or newsworthy ideas or concepts, but I am not interested in domains related to today's news stories. If a celebrity dies or goes to jail, if there's a disaster, an election, etc, thank you but I'll pass. These types of names make for terrible investments.
Trademark violators - I am not a cybersquatter. Domains that contain famous people or company names are not for me.
Overpriced names - I've been buying domains for 10 years and have a good idea of their value. Each domain is an investment for me, so I don't intend to be suckered into paying more than it's worth.
Sure, in some cases I will buy developed sites. I am not interested in "turnkey" sites, or sites built with illegal scripts.
If your domain names interest me, I'll usually let you know within 24 hours. Offers containing an asking price are much more likely to get a response. If you do not hear back within a few days, sorry. Try listing your domains for sale on NamePros, Sedo, or AfterNic.
We can use Escrow.com to ensure a safe transaction for us both. PayPal can be used on smaller value transactions.

Generally, no. I buy domains for development and investment, and not for resale. In the rare situation where an offer is more compelling than my plans for a domain, I may reconsider. Unfortunately I have found most domain inquiries to be complete time wasters, so those that do not include at least an initial offer are usually discarded.
I strive to conduct myself politely and professionally and hope you do as well. Also, I choose not to do business with rude people or cyberbullies that -- for whatever reason -- act they're entitled to getting a domain from me.
No, I do not. Please see the previous answer.
